Your total blood pressure reading is determined by measuring your systolic and diastolic blood pressures. Systolic blood pressure, the top number, measures the force your heart exerts on the walls of your arteries each time it beats. Diastolic blood pressure, the bottom number, measures the force your heart exerts on the walls of your arteries in between beats.

Blood pressure readings fall into four general categories, ranging from normal to stage 2 high blood pressure hypertension. The level of your blood pressure determines what kind of treatment you may need. To get an accurate blood pressure measurement, your doctor should evaluate your readings based on the average of two or more blood pressure readings at three or more office visits.

Here's a look at the four blood pressure categories and what they mean for you. If your systolic and diastolic readings fall into two different categories, your correct blood pressure category is the higher category. Talk to your child's doctor if you're concerned your child has high blood pressure.

If you also have heart disease, diabetes, chronic kidney disease or certain other conditions, you may need to treat your blood pressure more aggressively. If your blood pressure is normal, maintaining or adopting a healthy lifestyle can prevent or delay the onset of high blood pressure or other health problems.

If your blood pressure isn't normal, a healthy lifestyle — oftentimes along with medication — can help bring it under control and reduce your risk of life-threatening complications. The American Heart Association states the normal resting adult human heart rate is 60— bpm. During sleep a slow heartbeat with rates around 40—50 bpm is common and is considered normal. When the heart is not beating in a regular pattern, this is referred to as an arrhythmia. Abnormalities of heart rate sometimes indicate disease. While heart rhythm is regulated entirely by the sinoatrial node under normal conditions, heart rate is regulated by sympathetic and parasympathetic input to the sinoatrial node.

The accelerans nerve provides sympathetic input to the heart by releasing norepinephrine onto the cells of the sinoatrial node SA nodeand the vagus nerve provides parasympathetic input to the heart by releasing acetylcholine onto sinoatrial node cells. Therefore, stimulation of the accelerans nerve increases heart rate, while stimulation of the vagus nerve decreases it.

Due to individuals having a constant blood volume, [ dubious — discuss ] one of the physiological ways to deliver more oxygen to an organ is to increase heart rate to permit blood to pass by the organ more often. However, heart rates from 50 to 60 bpm are common among healthy people and do not necessarily require special attention. There are many ways in which the heart rate speeds up or slows down. This section discusses target heart rates for healthy persons, which would be inappropriately high for most persons with coronary artery disease.

The heart rate is rhythmically generated by the sinoatrial node. It is also influenced by central factors through sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves. The cardioaccelerator regions stimulate activity via sympathetic stimulation of the cardioaccelerator nerves, and the cardioinhibitory centers decrease heart activity via parasympathetic stimulation as one component of the vagus nerve.

During rest, both centers provide slight stimulation to the heart, contributing to autonomic tone. This is a similar concept to tone in skeletal muscles.

Normally, vagal stimulation predominates as, left unregulated, the SA node would initiate a sinus rhythm of approximately bpm. Both sympathetic and parasympathetic stimuli flow through the paired cardiac plexus near the base of the heart. The cardioaccelerator center also sends additional fibers, forming the cardiac nerves via sympathetic ganglia the cervical ganglia plus superior thoracic ganglia T1—T4 to both the SA and AV nodes, plus additional fibers to the atria and ventricles.

The ventricles are more richly innervated by sympathetic fibers than parasympathetic fibers. Sympathetic stimulation causes the release of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine also known as noradrenaline at the neuromuscular junction of the cardiac nerves. This shortens the repolarization period, thus speeding the rate of depolarization and contraction, which results in an increased heartrate.

It opens chemical or ligand-gated sodium and calcium ion channels, allowing an influx of positively charged ions. Norepinephrine binds to the beta—1 receptor.

High blood pressure medications are used to block these receptors and so reduce the heart rate. Parasympathetic stimulation originates from the cardioinhibitory region of the brain [13] with impulses traveling via the vagus nerve cranial nerve X.

The vagus nerve sends branches to both the SA and AV nodes, and to portions of both the atria and ventricles. Parasympathetic stimulation releases the neurotransmitter acetylcholine ACh at the neuromuscular junction.

ACh slows HR by opening chemical- or ligand-gated potassium ion channels to slow the rate of spontaneous depolarization, which extends repolarization and increases the time before the next spontaneous depolarization occurs.

Without any nervous stimulation, the SA node would establish a sinus rhythm of approximately bpm. Since resting rates are considerably less than this, it becomes evident that parasympathetic stimulation normally slows HR. This is similar to an individual driving a car with one foot on the brake pedal. To speed up, one need merely remove one's foot from the brake and let the engine increase speed. In the case of the heart, decreasing parasympathetic stimulation decreases the release of ACh, which allows HR to increase up to approximately bpm.

Any increases beyond this rate would require sympathetic stimulation. The cardiovascular centres receive input from a series of visceral receptors with impulses traveling through visceral sensory fibers within the vagus and sympathetic nerves via the cardiac plexus.

Among these receptors are various proprioreceptorsbaroreceptorsand chemoreceptorsplus stimuli from the limbic system which normally enable the precise regulation of heart function, via cardiac reflexes.

Increased physical activity results in increased rates of firing by various proprioreceptors located in muscles, joint capsules, and tendons.Content on HealthTap including answers should not be used for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and interactions on HealthTap do not create a doctor-patient relationship.

On sheet music, instrumentation is written out using musical notation, which is divided into small sections called measures. From there, a time signature is used to determine how many beats are in a measure, which is then how the composer determines how many notes are allowed in each measure.

Thus, the tempo determines the performance speed of the music. So when you count how many beats are in one minute of a song played at a specific tempo, you can quickly determine the Beats Per Minute or BPM. Why is this useful? The tempo of a song generally correlates with the kind of mood a song will set in a video or any project that utilizes music to invoke a specific feeling in the audience.

The higher the BPM, the faster the song, which is great for scenes that are joyful, exciting, or need to move quickly or intensely. Meanwhile, a lower BPM means the song is slower, which is fitting scenes that are sad, dramatic or romantic. Different tempos fall into specific ranges, which are helpful when determining the BPM as well as what music works best for your project:. Largo very slow is 40—60 BPM. Larghetto less slow is 60—66 BPM. Adagio moderately slow is 66—76 BPM.

Andante walking speed is 76— BPM. Moderato moderate is — BPM. Allegro fast is — BPM. Presto faster is — BPM. Did you know that you can search for music by BPM right on Storyblocks? 140 bpm means

The heart rate of your baby fluctuates as they grow and as they move. Heart rates start out slower, and then by weeks run in the range of BPM beats per minute. If your baby moves, his or her heart rate goes up, just as your heart rate does with movement.

However, none of these is related to the gender of your baby.

Comunicato 7

A study was actually done to test this theory. The study actually shows that there is no correlation between gender and fetal heart rate. Although they did find a correlation between heart rate and gestational age prior to 9.

I don't think so. With my first pregnancy the baby's heartbeat was beats per minute and now with my 2 pregnancy it is beats per minute. The first one was a girl and this one is a boy. They can see on a scan from as early as 13 weeks into your pregnancy what the sex of your baby is.

I am only 15 and a half weeks and they could see pretty clearly. This is just an old wives tale and there is no scientific theory to back it up. Who cares? Besides a baby's heart rate fluctuates over a 24hr period from to beats, your answer will not be accurate. A baby's heartbeat gradually slows down throughout the pregnancy. A heartbeat of is normal during early pregnancy, and is normal in mid-late pregnancy.

It is not a sign of sex. You should start by not wanting to get pregnant, just have sex everyday or every other day and don't think about getting pregnant, just have fun with your partner.
